Lairds Straight Apple Brandy Bottled in Bond

Image
Definitely get apples on the nose, like a yellow apple, not a red or green variety. A lot less flavor than I was expecting frankly. Nothing bad, tastes more like a weak green apple. Just not a very strong flavor. Very drinkable though. 8/10Definitely get apples on the nose, like a yellow apple, not a red or green variety. A lot less flavor than I was expecting frankly. Mellow Corn Whiskey

Image
Smells sweet, but still strong, maybe a little bit of the corn in the nose, but not much. Mouth is soft, smooth, warm, lots of corn notes, like corn on the cob with butter. It's sweet, and maybe a little buttery, really pleasant. I also get some grassier notes. 8.5/10

Non-Traditional Manhattan

Image
Made a non-traditional Manhattan tonight. It honestly doesn't smell like much, but it's smooth, silky, the alcohol flavor arrives late, but the front is a lot of warm vermouth flavors, little bits of cereal from the whiskey, the bitters soften the edges. 😙👌 9/10

Jameson Irish Whiskey

Image
Smells crisp and sweet, maybe a bit of apple or pear nose. The mouth feel is very smooth, maybe a bit thin, super drinkable, sweet, lots of cereal notes, maybe a tiny bit of cinnamon, a bit buttery on the end. Very pleasant. 9.3/10 Requested by  @IKnapz

Laphroaig 10 Year Single Malt Islay

Image
Smells very strongly of earthy smoky wood. Like the smell of campfire. And that little sherry glass is releasing so much smell. In the mouth its sweeter and smoother than I was expecting, with lots of deep rich smoke notes. Rich smoke gives almost to a soft grass note. 9/10 @MuteddR6  Requested Lagavulin 16. I was unable to get a bottle of Lagavulin, but this is also a single malt long aged scotch, from the south part of Islay, with a similar peat smoking method I keep sipping, I'm getting a mineral note, almost like a smoked salt. But it's not like, acrid, or palate desiccating or anything, it's really well structured around the smoke. I can see myself sipping a glass on a cold winter night.

Mixed Rum Painkiller

Image
No bottle rating tonight, but I made a mixed rum pain killer. I'll put the exact recipe in the replies. It's cold, it's sweet, its got a little bit of funk, a little bit of barrel taste, and lots of sugary rum taste. Very very good. 9.8/10 3oz Pineapple juice 1oz Creme of coconut 1oz Orange Juice 1oz DonQ Gold 1/2oz Appleton estate 12 1/2oz Smith and Cross shaken with lots of crushed ice and open poured.

Aperol

Image
Smells super strongly of oranges, technically this is an apertif not an orange liqueur, but orange is certainly its most dominant flavor/aroma. Mildly sweet, with bits of orange peel notes, it really does taste a lot like orange oil, honestly really drinkable. 9/10

Good Vodka

Image
I love what this company is doing but this review will be how much I like their product as a vodka. It has an earthy smell, a little chocolatey, but that's not quite right. The mouth is a bit better, it isnt quite neutral but its not bad. Smooth, almost soft, a tinge bitter 6/10

DonQ Gold

Image
Smells like banana pudding and vanilla wafers, super strong nose. A little thin on the palate, sweet, simple, inoffensive. I do taste some banana and a little vanilla, but it's a very soft flavor in comparison to the nose. A perfectly serviceable rum, but, not my favorite 7/10

Monkey Shoulder Blended Scotch

Image
I get a white wine note from the nose, also maybe an apricot smell, some sort of soft non-citrus fruit. Smooth in the mouth, malty, warm, bits of baking spice, other grain notes, it's sweet, its very well rounded. Good to sip. Probably my favorite whiskey I've had. 9.2/10

Smith and Cross Traditional Jamaican Rum (Navy Strength)

Image
Caramel and banana nose, maybe a bit of green apple in there. Taste is so complex I wish I had more characters. Immediate alcohol burn, gives to brown sugar, cinnamon banana, some malt, maybe even corn notes, with bits of Jamaican funk all the way. Incredible bottle 9.7/10. The rum isn't actually that flourescant yellow, it's just my laptop behind it. Every time I take a sip I get new flavors, that might be my new favorite bottle. Its crazy how many things it has going on. Nutmeg, all spice, apples, maybe a little bit of a black peppercorn note, molasses, more cinnamon, it keeps showing the funky banana note. It's so good.

Lemonhart and Sons 151

Image
Strong maple nose. Way stronger maple smell over alcohol smell. Very thin mouth feel, but so flavorful. I get maple, brown sugar, walnut, and obviously the proofy burn. Rich and complex. 151 proof is higher than most things are even distilled to, let alone bottled at. 9/10 Wow.

Manhattan

Manhattan that I made for a friend at a party

Rothman and Winter Creme De Violette

Image
Forgot to do one yesterday, so a double feature. Smells like soap, incredibly floral (makes sense). Sweet, very subtle flavor, it doesn't taste soapy, it's incredibly delicate. But rather one note 6/10

Pierre Ferrand Dry Curaçao

Image
Very dry, bitter, lots of notes from the peel of the orange. It almost smells chocolatey. 6/10 but super important behind a bar.

Wray and Nephew Overproof White Rum

Image
Smells very strongly of acetone, with notes of paint thinner and other volatile hydrocarbons. Maybe the faintest bit of white sugar in the nose. The taste is less offensive, very strong, but rather neutral. Subtle notes of appley caramel, but generally neutral. 7/10

Angostura Aromatic Bitters

Image
Really too much going on to express in 240 characters. An absolute cocktail essential, the nose is wonderful, it smells like Christmas with all the baking spice notes. The flavor is bitter, with lots of allspice and clove notes. It is potent on it's own. 9/10

St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur

Image
Incredibly specific smell, but it smells like a local gelato shop in my area. Taste is sweet, fruity, a little floral, but it's super smooth, silky even 8.5/10

Monkey 47 Schwarzwald Dry Gin

Image
Incredibly good, easy to sip, it hides it's alcohol very well. It was an expensive bottle, and you can definitely do better value with gin. Super aromatic, very juniper forward, then peppercorn, rosemary, and a lemongrass finish. Incredibly smooth, 9/10
