Sam's Spritz Showdown! Happy New Years

Aperol Spritz

Smells sweet and light, almost like a candy. Lightly orangey, bubbly, not too sweet, not to dry (using a brut sparkling wine for all of these). Absolutely drinkable and refreshing, unfortunately I wasn't able to chill my glassware today, but that would make it even more refreshing I'd imagine! 8/10

Chambord Spritz

Smells like sweet berries, reminding me of baking some sort of pie. A bit sweeter and more tart than the aperol spritz, I find this one personally more enjoyable. Both are light and easy to drink, and fine celebratory drinks. 9/10

Elderflower Spritz

Harder to get a nose from. Still smells a bit sweet. Tastes exactly like a elderflower gelato that I've had before. Sweet, tasty, floral, a tiny bit tart. Excellent. 9.5/10

 My Spec

Brief Note: To avoid binge drinking, I will only be making half servings of each of the following drinks. The specs I have listed are for a full sized drink, but in my review, I only make half volume cocktails.

Aperol Spritz

2oz Aperol
3oz Sparkling wine
2oz Sparkling water
Start by pouring your Aperol in a chilled champagne flute, add sparkling wine, then top with sparkling water

Chambord Spritz

2oz Chambord
3oz Sparkling wine
2oz Sparkling water
Start by pouring your Chambord in a chilled champagne flute, add sparkling wine, then top with sparkling water

Elderflower Spritz

2oz St. Germain
3oz Sparkling wine
2oz Sparkling water
Start by pouring your St Germain in a chilled champagne flute, add sparkling wine, then top with sparkling water

Closing thoughts

New years is obviously a celebratory time of year, and as long as your consuming safe amounts of alcohol and not driving while intoxicated, then it doesn't really matter what you're drinking this evening. For example, there were supposed to be 2 additional drinks on this list, but due to a friend getting sick, I was the only one drinking these tonight. So I decided to stop at 3 drinks just for safety's sake. Stay tuned for those other 2 drinks in the near future (both use sparkling wine, and while I do happen to have champagne stoppers, I need to use the rest of that sparkling wine before it goes bad)
As for the drinks themselves, my mother was tasting them with me tonight, and her review pretty much mirrored mine this evening. The Elderflower being our favorite, followed by the Chambord, followed by the Aperol. You also may wanna tweak some ratios depending on your sparkling wine and sparkling water. If you have a sweet sparkling wine, then it's easy to add too much liqueur.
Anyways, if you're drinking tonight even if it's just a glass of champagne, please be safe. It's so easy to make 1 mistake and end someone's life.

As always if you have any thoughts, comments, suggestions, ideas, etc, please leave a comment below, I'd love to hear from you. Happy new year! Sam
